Christa Coutoure with Tzadeka
This evening we are proud to present two powerful women performers, whose styles will take you from Folk to Hip Hop, but always with lyrics that will move you.
Christa Coutoure grew up in Edmonton and then moved to Vancouver to study at Vancouver Film School. She worked in film and television for about a decade before returning to music. Her first release FELL OUT OF OZ earned four stars from both TV Week and The Edmonton Sun, who wrote, “her and her guitar makes an almost unholy sound.” Her most recent album THE LIVING RECORD garnered “Best of 2012” picks by CBC Music, The Georgia Straight, and Corby’s Orbit.
“Georgeously intimate voice – somewhere between the tough vulnerability of Amy Rigby and the passionate, sophisticated folk of Joni Mitchell.” PopMatters
Tzadeka is our own Maigan van der Giessen, once a server at Blue Chair, but always a MC/singer/song writer/poet with a very important message. Tzadeka can be best described as Hip-Hop fusion, using elements of Hip-Hop, Jazz and other similiar genres to create hopefully something cool.
