Oliver Swain's career spans fifteen years of performing and writing with many of the most loved roots bands, including The Bills, The Duhks, and Outlaw Social. His 2011 album In A Big Machine was released to rave reviews, and called "absolutely mesmerizing" and "one of the best albums of 2011, regardless of genre" by CJSW Radio.
He performs often in various incarnations of the BIG MACHINE band, pushing boundaries and fusing jazz and soul into his traditional folk music base. Oliver possesses a finely tuned field-holler style, impressive register, and instrumentally he dazzles with his clawhammer style banjo, and upright bass, which he often plays as if it were leading the melody. He's a two time Prairie Music Award (WCMA) winner, Juno nominee and has a few "M" (Monday Magazine) and Times Colonist Music Awards under his belt.
