OUR 20TH ANNIVERSARY IS SEPTEMBER OF 2024! We start the party August 24th with Borrowed & Blue (House Band), and a spectacular lineup until October. We have 20 bands for our 20th Anniversay. We will reminisce with each band, party a bit and drink our new Blue Chair Lager!
We have teamed up with Alley Kat for our own Blue Chair Beer! All the bands are on the beer cans with our new logo. Alley Kat was one of our first vendors and our very first beer on tap! Blue Chair and Alley Kat have grown and expanded over the years and we cheers Alley Kat as they are coming up to their 30th!
Anniversary Art Exhibit: Brenda Philp is our anniversary artist. She has created an amazing display! She has made dyes from onion skins and black bean liquid and incorporated them into the beautiful textiles now hanging on the walls. She will be hosting artist talks at the restaurant Sunday August 25th at 11am and 1pm. Please pop by and enjoy the art, music and great brunch!
Please look at our great lineup and book as soon as you can as some shows are already sold out!
Lionel Rault Trio is on stage Thursday September 5th. Lionel has been a main stay at the restaurant from the beginning! He has covered brunch's and filled in when we were in a pinch! His support has shaped who we are and how we got here. His seasoned Trio is always a pleasure to watch with Don Marcotte and Marc Ladouceur.

Steve Pineo returns to our stage September 13th. He is the writer of “Canadian Man” by Paul Brandt and “Too Bad For Me” by Prairie Oyster. He is also a unique and talented performer in his own right. Working as a solo act, with an acoustic trio, with a four piece roots rock band or an 8 piece horn band, Steve’s sound is immediately recognizable. Like Ry Cooder and Mark Knopfler, Steve is a virtuoso guitar player who’s style was originally blues-based but has expanded its palette over the years.
September 14th is The Yonghy Bonghy Bos. The Yonghy-Bonghy Bos are a collective of local blues, rock and funk musicians equally skilled at playing cover songs and their own originals. A diverse and unique blend of personalities and musical senses, that includes members of Edmonton bands The Canyon Rose Outfit, The Great North Blues Band, The Wet Secrets, Mercy Funk, and Mortillery, The Yonghy-Bonghy Bos might be named after nonsense, but they will give it to you straight when it comes to making music!

Brenda Philp is a Canadian artist who lives and works in Edmonton, Alberta. She studied Fibre Art at the Haliburton School of Art and Design in 2017, and attended an Artist Residency at the Icelandic Textile Center in 2019. Her work has been exhibited locally at the Alberta Craft Council, ACUA Gallery, Sound Studies Institute, Blue Chair, Edmonton Public Library, and internationally at the Icelandic Textile Center. Current pursuits include creating a work for the Piece for Peace Project presented by India Flint at the School of Nomad Arts.
Brenda is thrilled to have her art grace the walls of the Blue Chair. Her aim in creating these textile works was to capture the vibrancy and character of this awesome establishment.
The works were developed using improvisational quilting techniques and feature hand-dyed fabrics created using food items such as onion skins and black beans from the Blue Chair kitchen. Unconventional piecing, hand-stitching,
